WHO WE ARE

Empowered People. Dependable Workforce Solutions.

At Pioneer, we believe workforce solutions should do more than fill job openings—they should change lives. We partner with employers to provide cost-effective, reliable labor while empowering individuals who face barriers to employment. Through training, mentorship, and meaningful work, we help people reclaim their futures and support businesses with a motivated, job-ready workforce. Whether you’re tackling staffing challenges or looking to invest in real social impact, Pioneer would love to partner with you.

Our Purpose

We deliver compassionate services and meaningful workforce opportunities to help individuals thrive and communities flourish.

Our Vision

To create a world where every person—regardless of ability—has access to meaningful employment opportunities that promote independence, inclusion, and community prosperity.

Our Mission

To ensure individuals served and employed by Pioneer have fulfilling vocational opportunities and are treated with dignity, respect, and a sense of self-worth.

Core Values

Community

We are committed to building connections that enrich lives, strengthen our local economy, and create lasting social impact. We support the SCL program goal that all participants receive person-centered services, are safe, healthy, and respected, and are supported in living and working in their communities.

Inclusion

We believe diverse perspectives create stronger communities and better outcomes. We promote workplaces where everyone feels valued, and we support team-based planning that ensures participants’ rights to choice, inclusion, employment, growth, and privacy.

Respect

We treat every individual with dignity and consideration. Pioneer fosters a restraint-free environment—prohibiting physical restraints, seclusion, chemical restraints, or aversive interventions of any kind.

Collaboration

We support participants in building and maintaining natural support networks and partnerships. We believe in working together—with individuals, families, and businesses—to achieve mutual growth and continuous improvement.

Leadership

We strive for excellence in every service we provide, delivering high-quality, reliable outcomes. We lead with integrity, transparency, and a deep commitment to our mission.

Empowerment

We support informed decision-making and self-advocacy by providing the tools, training, and opportunities individuals need to reach their full potential.

Our History

Founded in 1969 as the Pioneer Opportunity Workshop, Pioneer began with two staff members serving five employees with disabilities. In 1983, our name was changed to Pioneer Vocational Industrial Services to better reflect our mission.

In 2007, Pioneer moved to its current facility on Corporate Drive, adjacent to Danville’s Industrial Park. This 23,000-square-foot facility offers modern production space and convenient access to the Hwy 150 Bypass.

Today, a dedicated professional staff supports around 30 employees of all abilities. Pioneer has served more than 1,000 individuals with disabilities, placing many in competitive jobs across central Kentucky and beyond.
